Wines. Consumed. Enjoyed. Reviewed.
It's a lot of work, but someone has to do it.
This was created by metro Detroiters who love moments with friends & family, sharing tales of travel, food, connection and novel experiences. All that is often made even better over wine & cheese- or dinner- especially when some of the wine or dinner fixins' are homemade!
Having contributed at a couple of global wine-review sites, and getting generous feedback regarding the "novellas" we were leaving as tasting notes, we wanted to create this as more of a homegrown page, a place for us Metro Detroiters to "gather" and discuss- electronically- (but also breaking actual bread when desired) wines available and the places from which we purchase them locally...
Vino has been a part of our personal journey for years, from what we made and gifted to our wedding guests, to how our tastes have changed, to eventually building a unique cellaring space.
We'd love to hear from other metro beverage fans... We want wine lovers to Drink Better Wine in Better Places!
We see this page evolving a great deal over the coming years, if any of you find it useful enough to visit and read the reviews shared.
Noroc & Salud to you all!
What We're About
We're a small group of fun people. We like to stick our neck out. Drive fast, take chances. If we had to describe our energy here with six zingers, these might come to mind, on a good day.

2015 Cask & Barrel Cabernet Sauvignon Aged in Bourbon Barrels
A gift bottle. likely opened too soon. But while the first taste was scary, it did come around after a bit, with some air... The Whiskey aroma in this wine was not "endearing" like the Robert Mondavi Bourbon Barrel Cab we have enjoyed. It did not just add 'complexity' to an otherwise underwhelming cab, it seemed to...2012 Bodegas Paniza Garnacha Viñas Viejas
Spain> Aragón> Cariñena
Aldi, you've done it again! Another great $11+/- wine.
We couldn't, for the life of us, tell you what hit our nose with this... After an hour, and spicy Mexican food (and 60% of the bottle), we agreed on the European chocolate crisp thingies, Hanuta Haselnuss-Schnitte... Can't go wrong with those on the nose!...
2014 Red Groot Constantia Pinotage
South Africa> Coastal Region> Cape Peninsula> Constantia
We have been enjoying juices from this winery since 2005 when we bought our first '01 vintage.
Care to read a story on the global economy? Here goes...
While enjoying the Pinotage, the Rood, the Cab and the Shiraz Groot wines in the mid to late 2000s, we had been paying $12-$14 per bottle those years....
2012 Heitz Cellar Cabernet Sauvignon
USA> California> Napa Valley
Wow, what a yummy linger this blossom of a wine offers! We just now stopped tasting the finish from last night- OK, not that long, but Oh So Good!
On the nose, it opens fresh, fruity, juicy, and earthy without making us think of dirt. It is a supremely balanced vin; nothing obtrusive stands out.
We had two...
2009 Cakebread Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon
USA> California> Napa Valley
Don't remember details, just that we really liked it.
We will schedule another and take notes next time.
